Sometimes you may need to un-track a transaction, removing it from a budget item so it returns to your “New” transactions list. This can be helpful if you accidentally tracked it to the wrong budget item or want to decide later where it belongs.
What Happens When You Un-Track a Transaction
The transaction will be removed from the budget line where it was tracked.
It will reappear in the New tab in the web version of EveryDollar (or in the Transactions tab marked as untracked on mobile).
From there, you can track it to the correct budget item at any time.
Un-Tracking a Transaction on the Web
Sign in to EveryDollar.com on your computer.
Locate the line item the transaction was tracked to and click it. The transaction will be listed under Transactions on the right side.
Click the transaction to open its details.
Click the gray "X" icon that is next to the budget item name, which the transaction is currently assigned to, then click Save Changes.
The transaction will move back to the New tab for you to track later.
Un-Tracking a Transaction in the Mobile App
Open the EveryDollar app on your device.
Locate the line item the transaction was tracked to and tap it. The transaction will be listed under "Activity This Month".
Tap the transaction to view its details.
Tap the red circle with the line through it that is next to the budget item name, which the transaction is currently assigned to, then tap Done in the top right corner of the screen.
The transaction will now show as a new transaction that needs to be tracked when you tap on the blue circle at the bottom of the budget and when you tap the Transactions tab at the bottom of the screen.
Un-tracking doesn’t delete the transaction; it just moves it back to the “New” section so you can reassign it.
