In EveryDollar, Funds are budget items with a piggy bank icon next to them. These are designed for tracking savings toward "irregular" expenses that you save for monthly. Think of your auto insurance, property taxes, or even the trash pickup bill; these expenses you want to set money aside for each month, and Funds help you stay on track.
Currently, once a budget item has been set up as a Fund, you can’t simply switch it back to a regular budget item. Here’s how to work around this:
How to Change a Fund Back Into a Regular Budget Item
Delete the Fund
Deleting a Fund will remove all data for the budget item in the current budget.
Locate the Fund you want to change.
On the mobile app, tap on the Fund, scroll, then choose Delete Budget Item. You can also swipe left on the Fund then tap "Delete". Then, confirm your selection.
On the web, click on the Fund, then click the small trash can icon to delete it and confirm your selection.
Add a New Budget Item
In the same budget group, add a new budget item.
Give it a name slightly different from the original Fund name (for example, change "Auto Insurance" to "Car Insurance" or "Car Insurance Bill").
This will create a regular budget item instead of a Fund.
Important to Know
If you add a new budget item, but use the original Fund name, the new item will automatically reappear as a Fund with the piggy bank icon.
To avoid this, choose a slightly different name for the new budget item.
