A single transaction can be split amongst different Categories or Budget Items within EveryDollar. Maybe you purchased some food, shampoo, and a shirt at Walmart. You can split that singular transaction between your Groceries, Health and beauty, and Clothing budget items. We'll show you how to do it on the computer version of EveryDollar at everydollar.com!
This example shows how to split an existing new transaction:
- Click the Transactions icon in the top right corner.
- Find the transaction you're looking to split and click on that transaction. An edit window will appear.
- Click Choose Budget Item(s).
Choose the budget items where you need to track your spending. Once you've selected those budget items it's time to type in the amounts for each budget item. For instance, we'll add $81.34 into Cleaning Supplies and $51.20 into Clothing. Make sure the split amounts add up to the total transaction amount, or it won't let you save.
4. Click Track Expense.
💡 Pro Tip: You can not split a transaction between two different months, you can only split a single transaction in a single month. You would need to create a separate transaction in a different month if you want to split a single transaction between multiple months.
