How to Manually Create and Track Transactions

We've set up EveryDollar to make it easy to manually create and track expenses. That means once you're finished at the gas pump, you can enter the purchase on the way back to the driver's seat. At the grocery store, you'll spend more time picking out that perfect carton of eggs. That's the way budgeting should be!

The free version of EveryDollar allows you to manually add bank accounts, and transactions can be added manually on both the free and paid versions. EveryDollar Premium is required to add bank accounts for automatic transaction import. 

Here's how to add a new transaction based on the device you're using.

1. On the main Budget page, click the Transactions tab near the top right corner of the screen.

2. Then, at the bottom right of the screen, click the blue circle with the "+" sign in it. That will pull up a sub-screen that looks like this.

   

3. On that sub-screen, fill out the fields for Amount, Date and Merchant. If you have manually added a bank account and want the transaction to be applied to that balance, select it from the Choose Account field. Then select the Budget Item where it belongs. 

4. Once you're done, click the blue Add Expense button at the bottom right. The transaction is then added to the Budget Item.

   1. When you're on the main Budget page, tap the "+" sign at the top right of the screen.

   

   2. On the sub-screen that pulls up, fill out the fields for Amount, Date and Merchant.

   

   3. Next, tap the Budget Item(s) line, which will then display a list of your Budget Items. Select the item you want the transaction to go into. Then tap the blue Save button at the bottom.

   

   4. Finally, confirm that all the information on the sub-screen is correct, then tap the blue Save button.
