When you see "left to budget" or "over budget" at the top of your budget, these numbers reflect your planned income and expenses, not your actual transactions. Dragging and dropping transactions won’t change these amounts because they are based only on the planned figures you entered.
Example 1: If you plan to spend $1,000 more than the income you expect to bring in for the month, your budget will show that you are $1,000 "over budget" at the top, like this:
How to fix it:
You’ll need to either reduce your planned expenses by $1,000 or increase your planned income by that amount. Adjust your line items or add additional income sources to bring your budget back into balance.
Example 2: If you plan to bring in $1,000 more income than you plan to spend for the month, your budget will show that you have $1,000 "left to budget" at the top, like this:
How to fix it:
This means you haven’t assigned all your income to line items yet. To fix this, allocate that extra $1,000 to your spending, savings, or debt payoff items until your budget balances out.
