Transferring Funds from One Budget Item to Another
If you want to move money out of one budget item in your budget and add it to a different budget item, there are a couple of options for doing so.
Option 1: Transfer Feature
One option is to use the transfer feature. This is the little gray circle with two blue arrows that is next to the "Remaining" amount for your budget item.
The transfer feature allows you to move a certain amount of funds from one budget item and assign that to a different budget item.
For example, if I want to move $100 out of my Groceries budget item, and put that $100 into my Emergency Fund, I can use the transfer feature.
1. Click on your Planned amount for the budget item you are transferring funds FROM.
2. Click on the blue arrows (transfer feature).
3. When you click on the two blue arrows, a window will pop up where I can enter how much I am moving and the budget item I am moving that amount to.
4. Enter the amount you want to move, and where you are moving those funds TO.
5. Click Enter.
Transferring funds from one budget item to another budget item using the transfer feature will not change your planned amounts. It will change what is remaining to spend from those budget items.
In our example, after I transfer $100 FROM my Grocery budget item TO my Emergency Fund, the remaining amounts will reflect this change.
Using the transfer feature will impact the Summary Page for your spending category. We are working on improving how transferring between budget items is reflected in the Summary Page for future updates.
For now, when you use the transfer feature, like in our example, you will see that $100 was spent from a budget item.
Option 2: Change the Planned Amounts
Another option would be to simply change the planned amounts for your budget items.
For example, if I want to allot $100 towards my Emergency Fund, and I am going to take that from my Grocery budget item, I can change the planned amounts for both of those budget items.
